After several attempts to connect, I finally met Valentine and her brother Victor. They grew up in France and hope to bring their experience of fine wine in everyday life to us here in oil city. We tasted:
From wine-maker Ghislain Kohut this is Organic/Biodynamic wine from the Cotes de Nuits in Bourgogne. It is a clear straw colour with aromas of a warm, rained out flower garden, candy necklace, anise and a hint of cumin spice. Big round chardy attack with tongue peeling acidity. Pretty herbaceous mid palate with ample body and great length.766662 $$
Ch. Mourges du Gres Galets d’Ores 2013
From Costieres de Nimes which was once part of the Languedoc it is now considered part of the Rhone. A blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, it has a super clear greenish hue. I smell warm cheddar, lemon, petrol and kiwi. It offers a pretty bright easy attack that opens wide and long. Good and fresh, it twinkles on the palate. 766470 $ Perfect for the patio!
Domaine Lucien Jacob Premier Cru Pernand Vergelesses
Perfect clear ruby. Toasty dried cherries on the nose with ever so slightly soapy notes. It carries the pretty scent of macerated fruit. Subtle perfume, pretty and compelling. Clean, perfect and bright attack. Chewy fresh tannins support a backbone of super fresh fruit. Stemmy wonderful fruit. It’s honest to goodness 1er cru Bourgogne! +766865 $$$
Ardeche Terres des Amoureuses 2011 Dandy Black
Deep ruby velvet. Fresh blueberry pie. Black currant splash with a bit of an earthy edge. Big giant splashy attack. Huge black fruit opening to easy bright tannin and mouth-watering fruit. Great good fun. +769044 $$ 6 packs
